I don't have a Step-Mother!

So some of my favorite blogs are Garence Dore (it has an accent mark on the "e" but I have no idea how to put it in without copy and paste) and The Sartorialist. Lately the fashion blogs have photographed the same thing. Now I question whether or not they are the same person but almost identical. I love this Prada dress. Looks like style runs though the blog-o-sphere.

same person??? I can't tell but they both look like Charlotte Gainsbourg, werid.

Next is an update on my life. Update: nothing has changed.

OK well maybe a bit has changed like I am working so much more at IMAX in the coming weeks I will pick up 20-22 hours a week (this is just at IMAX). Also there is a new guy working there and guess what ..... he is a high school student. Although he looks like one of those guys into duck hunting (like my neighbor and half brother), at least I have someone that is more my age. I haven't worked with him yet but just met him for a few seconds.

Oh no!!! I my camera is starting to mess up again after I accidentally dropped when taking potential outfit picture. Arghh! D***, F***, Holy S***.

So today my parents were supposed to come back from spending a week away from my sister and I, but first you might want to know that they have been extending this trip back a day, everyday. They were actually supposed to come back late Tuesday/early Wednesday, that didn't happen. Anyways, so I had to work until 3:30 today and they would pick me up on their way back. They ended up staying a few more hours for the 4th of July parade in downtown Boone. So they got a lifetime friend to pick me up....he couldn't pick me up so he got his sister to pick me up..she eventually did pick me up, on time. So almost to my house I realize that I don't have a key to my house (thinking I wouldn't need it if my parents were eventually going to pick me up) so I asked (Laura) to go to my sister's work. My sister works for the pool club in my neighborhood. When we got there Laura left assuming she had to meet up with somebody then after waiting 10 minutes in jeans, converses, and carrying my laptop. My sister finally got up with me and just gave me the keys to everything. Now I am not a licenced driver, nor do I have a permit, nor have I ever taken driver's ed (I know pathetic), but it was just extremely hot so I decided to drive my sister's car the 1/2 mile to my house...unlocked the door...the drove back to the pool. Now by the time that I got there the place where my sister's car was parked was taken so I parked a few spots down. At that point I was terrified thankfully the car next to where my sister was parked was leaving the only thing is well....it is a very tiny parking lot and only one was direction (diagonal parking spots). Luckily those lessons with my dad in the empty parking lot of Triangle Town Center helped out. Unfortunately my sister noticed the car was moved, I confessed, then I was forced to tell my dad [thankfully I begged my dad not to tell my mom ("step mother" haha Karen) which he didn't so far]. Even though I did a very stupid thing that could of had some bad consequences (even though I was not drinking...yet?). So I finished my Independence Day trying to NOT listen to fireworks (I hate them), playing Scrabble and lossing, and playing Sorry and winning!!!

So I know that there are like a million fragments and run on sentence in that but do forgive me as I am writing this at 1:30 in the morning. I think this is it for now as I should go to bed seeing as though I have to work tomorrow.

Until you know that my "mom" is actually my mom (Karen),

Potential Outfits

Well I know it has been a long time as Karen keeps on informing me. So I finally took to it and made some potential outfits for New York. My inspiration comes from watching non stop movies this week. From Roman Holiday, Funny Face, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sunset Boulevard, To catch a Thief, A Place in the Sun, Elephant Walk, Rear Window, and a little bit of Gidget. Mostly Edith Head was the costume designer on these movies. Her styling are perfect for the parts. I love her.

So back to the fact that I put together some outfits and photographed them, below.

First this is a jacket my mom just got me I just love it. It just sways out and if you can't tell it does have sleeves. NO IT IS NOT A PANCHO. I haven't decided what i would wear it with but it seems versatile.
This is a great walking outfit. It includes cut-off shorts with some scrapes, a very feminine blouse to contrast to the rough shorts, one of my favorite cardigans (I should have gotten many more in different colors), and the bag is a pastel clutch which has the strap to easily wear when walking.
So I put a few options up with the same blouse (seeing that I love it so much). This option consists of the floral blouse, jersey knit skirt, cardigan, and my favorite part THE BELT. It is my mothers vintage which I am pretty much leaving my soul at home to make sure I don't loose this belt. It is a woven material with light brown leather accents. It is very 70's which I love with the floral. Great spring/summer look. I question whether it is too spring looking???
Ignore my huge legs in this and my mess room. I think this option is a great look for a Sunday night, maybe dinner? It is basically the same outfit above but with the black vintage belt (again my moms) and the woven two-strap wedges. I was thinking I might pair this with the red jacket. I think it would make a great silhouette. This look is one that is not using that same blouse (thank god). No this outfit consists of some brown shorts with a bit of pleats on them, a guys blue and white strip dress shirt, an undershirt, and a great brown leather belt. It is a skinner belt which I love. Also, it has a gold pendent a the belt buckle. Now I don't intend on wearing these shoes with it but am questioning what shoes to wear with this. Maybe these knock off vans that are blue and yellow plaid or there is always some brown leather flip flops or I just thought my goldish t-strap sandals. Whatever the case I am not quite sure I absolutely LOVE this outfit. Hopefully it will grow on me. OK I absolutely love this outfit. Definitely a contender. This outfit would be great for sight seeing then maybe a quick lunch at a cafe. I like the simplicity of this outfit. It starts off with this off red color skirt I'm sure you can't tell but this skirt has some gold detailing at the bottom (also it hangs off the hips), this cardigan that I got a size too big but when you roll up the sleeves it looks really cool (Karen also has this cardigan), all of this is squeezed in by the same leather belt in the previous outfit.
So now it is your turn to comment on my potential outfits. Now I want you to keep in mind that this is just a few outfits with more to come. PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS!
Until whenever,
Carey

"delete the blog, DELETE THE BLOOOOG!!!!"

Just a few minutes ago, my mother came into my room asking me what I was doing. I simply answered writing on my blog.....this is where it went wrong. I should have told her something like "Joli mom I'm just studying for the SAT's," but no I am so stupid I said writing on my blog. Now if you don't know my mother she thinks that by going directly to a website, instead of googling it, someone can access all of your information. Geez. So when she found out that I had a blog she FREAKED. She repeated "DELETE THE BLOG" in that annoying tone she has. So I am not going to delete my blog after I put so much work into this thing and I think it helps me in a way to write more, as I used to hate to write. I am just going to keep blogging. Thank god that I changed all of my user names and passwords. I think they caught on to what they were.

Anyways before I was so very much interrupted, this lady at my mom's work is learning how to make this really cool jewelry. So my mom wanted to get my sister and I some bracelets and earrings. Really cute as you can tell.
The cute bracelet in blackish color.
I really like the connector to it.
I couldn't get a good picture with the earrings on, but I just thought I would put them on my computer.
So I am getting really excited about New York. I can't believe it is only 3 weeks away. It is so exciting!!! It might still seem like a long time, but I feel it isn't because I really need to make a reservation for The Statue of Liberty (I just found out I would need one), I need to pick out some outfits (I keep on delaying it off), write down all of the places that "are a must", and I still haven't gotten my train ticket. Though I don't think that I will forget that.
Right now, I am watching "Don't Mess With The Zohan," the Adam Sandler flick. It is pretty funny, but not hilarious. I think tomorrow I will watch "I'm Not There". I still haven't seen it yet even though I could have seen it a while ago I just keep forgetting about it. I guess I am getting in the spirit of "The Dark Knight" (Heath Ledger is in both movies). I get to go see it a few days before opening. I have to get my sister tickets this weekend for the opening. She is so lucky I work there.
Oh oh oh good music news. Cold War Kids are coming to Cat's Cradle! So exciting I can't wait for their new album. It is really great to see bigger bands in smaller venues.
In ending, I must say that I haven't seen pookie in a long time. Sad.
Until tomorrow,
Carey

Strawberry Swing

I did nothing this whole day, except looking for my iPod cord and listen to the new Coldplay CD. How am I going to upload music to my iPod. I have so many albums to put on it. Oh well. I am tired now, good night.

Until tomorrow,

Sulking

I am sulking at home. Why you ask, because I couldn't find a ride back home from Cat's Cradle, where Rooney was playing. The doors have just opened, and I would be marching my way in to the venue hall this very moment. Even though I already saw them last summer. I still wanted to see them again and I wanted to see the opening acts. Maybe I should have planned this early on and not wait til the last minute. Oh well, maybe next summer I will see them.

Work was really exhausting today. It was pretty busy for a Saturday. Maybe it was the fact that Peter Pan was performing or the crappy weather we are having today. Either way I am tired! There is a girl at work that has a big attitude. All day, all she does is talk about how my methods(the way I do things) are the only thing I know how to do, and I am thinking no I have been working here for 9 months. My methods are the best way for me to be as productive as I can be. If they weren't they would have fired me months ago. If they don't work for her then OK. Just stop talking about how my methods are the only methods I know. It took me a while to find out how to best be productive. I just really wanted to say that to her "in the nicest possible way". All she does is talk about her child and how she had to raise herself and that she is 27 years old. I just keep thing OK I heard you the first thousand time. Geez. Hopefully she changes her attitude. I don't know if I can stand it for any longer.

New subject, but what to talk about. Um....I think next week I am going to post up what outfits I have and the (0) people that are reading this can help me decide which outfits to choose. I can't decide so I need some audience participation. Even though that is very limited. Speaking of outfits my mom gave me some of her vintage belts. I am really excited to wear them, especially to New York. I LOVE belts, if I could I would belt everything. It is an obsession of mine, except I only like to belt my waist not like jeans shorts. Just like dresses and skirts, which are my favorite clothing items.

Going back to work, but not talking about my co-worker, I have to work a really long day tomorrow. I have to work at the store from 12-5, then switch to IMAX from 5-9:30. I am going to be really exhausted. Lets just hope that it will be very, very, very slow tomorrow.

So I am trying to write down any attractions I want to see on my first trip to New York. I kinda want to see a movie at MOMA, as they call it. If someone is actually reading this can you help me figure out what to see. Just leave a comment.

MUSIC NEWS

I think I should add a music news section every week, your thoughts? Well I don't really care what you think because I am going to do it.

So this week I got a hold of Coldplay's new album. Although Perez has dissed it, I very much enjoyed it. There are some great tracks on it. My favorite is "Lovers in Japan" it is like a quintessential Coldplay love song full of flowing, piano-led melodies and Martin's warm, reassuring vocals.

Carl Barat, Dirty Pretty Things, was hospitalized for acute pancreatitis. They are still running tests and he might have to face operation. The band has already cancelled two dates on their tour. Ohlala.

Music I have been listening to lately is some oldies. I kind of grew up on oldies since it was the music my parents always listened to. I have enjoyed The Drifters, Four Tops, The Youngbloods, The Foundations, The Temptations, Otis Redding, Beach Boys, Smokey Robinson, The Mamas and the Papas, The Turtles, The Box Tops, Supremes, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Lovin' Spoonful, Sly and the Family Stone, Spiral Starecase, Lesley Gore, The Impressions, Lulu, Righteous Brothers, Sam Cooke, Harry Nilsson, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Neil Sedaka, Little Eva, Peter & Gordon, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Paul Anka, Edith Piaf, Teresa Brewer, Jo Stafford, and some good old Beatles. Now if you don't know a name maybe you should try the artist out. If I have listed it, it is some good oldies. Currently I am listening to Simon & Garfunkel. Great music.

I suddenly I had this craving to watch this movie a saw about a year ago. It was on TCM, my favorite channel, but the thing is I never knew the name of the movie. If I remember correctly, it was about this spiritual family in the 50's. They believed in the stars and they even named their 12 daughters after stars or planets. They lived in this nice place upon the hills, where the whole family stayed even though more than one daughter was over 21. It all centered around this love story of the rich guy, maybe wanting to demolish some of their property. I can't really remember. But I think I got the justs of things. If anybody knows the name please help me. Also, it was in black and white, if that helps.

Bon.

Until tomorrow,
Carey

Short and Sweet

So this is going to be a really short post.

Currently watching Doris Day in Pillow Talk. I love this movie with Rock Hudson. The two who made several movies together. Doris Day even got a "Best Actress" Oscar nomination. This cheerful, hilarious, love story will bring your heart to fall for both co-stars.

Now I should go to bed cause I have to get up at 7 am to go to work.

I painted my nails in the great shade. It is a pinkish color that has some great edge to it.

I found out from my cousin, who is a year older than me, that he is staying in the same dorm as my sister. They both go to Appalachian State University. He just got back from orientation. I am a bit jealous.

O.K. that seems like a fair enough blog.

Until tomorrow,
Carey

My Great Dream

As you might see I didn't post yesterday that is because it was Father's day. I spent the day going to work, celebrating Ellen's birthday, and of course giving my dad an awesome present.

Did any of you see the season premiere of Weeds, so good. I can't wait till next week. Even though I had to watch it online. When I was watching Weeds I kept on thinking about Karen. Currently she is down in Mexico learning about Immigration. Exciting, but until she gets back to Arizona....well let's just say I haven't heard from her in two weeks. I'll talk to her Saturday!

So I started watching Bonnaroo performances on youtube. I can't believe the news of MIA.

Um a good album coming out soon is Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. I know a really long name but they have good sound to them.

So I am not really doing this blog thing everyday. I started writing this Sunday and it is now Thursday. Not very good, but I hope a few slips isn't that bad.

So I had this crazy dream last night. I was at work, which is a kids museum, and there was a bunch of people there from my school. We were all cleaning up after some kids ran through and messed up everything when I saw "Pookie"(read first post to understand that). It was really weird and I told one of my friends and just dashed off and hid trying to clean up more things. Then without me looking, my friend went up to him and told him that I liked him. Just to remind you that I didn't see any of this. Then he came up to me and he said something like "you like me?", and off course I was like, "yea". Then ran off into the back, to the bathroom, and off course it wouldn't lock so I was left standing there holding the door closed until he came. He being a really cute strong (but not really) got through the door and int0 the bathroom. He just started talking to me like "hey" and "what going on?". I seriously started crying, then like in all movies (which I probably contributed bits and parts to have this dream) he lifted up my chin and said "I like you too". Oddly there was no kiss, sad and uncontrolled. Next, we were suddenly in one of the Birthday rooms, back when it was Exploris, and we finished watching this movie and some guy was talking to us on how to make a good relationship. It ended suddenly. Damn you Dad for waking me up.

So if you're thinking to yourself should I be laugh, my answer is YES. I thought that was hilarious and it did all happen in my dream. Some good dream. Please leave a comment to tell me what you thought of that dream.

Maybe that is what I was waiting for to post this. That great dream. Unforgettable, literally I've got it on my blog. I'm going to end this post only to start another one. It is a great dream that happened a long time ago, but I told Karen about it on her facebook. So I will have to archive for a bit now.

Until I archive,
Carey
