Bang Bang You're Dead

So this has been in the back of my head who does Carl Barat, from Dirty Pretty Things and formerly The Libertines, look like. I have had it in the back of my head for the longest time, and finally today his name popped right in to my head, his name Judd Nelson. Now you might not know off the bat who he is but I am sure you know his most famous character as The Criminal (John Bender) in The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo's Fire (a favorite). Maybe Carl takes his look from the him, with the leather jacket and the bad boy rep. But the most important part of this paragraph is what was I doing looking at Dirty Pretty Things, well their second album is coming out at the end of the month! I have already heard a few songs and it looks promising. I just really hope they stop by America for a HUGE tour. As you can tell I left you some photos but I think video is the best way to note the comparison.
Since I am alone this summer I thought maybe I could take a trip to see one of my friends, Valerie. Valerie is doing an marketing internship for online distributors, such as iTunes, Napster, rhapsody, etc., so basically, cataloguing artists and listening to more independent stuff. Now Valerie is in NYC! So I am in the talks of possibly taking a trip up to NYC by myself. Nothing is official yet, but I am already looking at things to do like go to a concert. There is already one concert that is on a weekend that I would go on, it is Santogold and it is FREE! It is one of those Central Park Summer stage things. Hopefully it all works out because I have never been to New York and I really want to go. If I could describe my ideal place to live in America it would be in New York, even if I had a shitty apartment and my credit card bill was out of the roof. I would figure out something so that I could always stay in New York.

So now that you know my burning desire for a little place called New York, I wanted to tell you about this band that Valerie shared with me they are called Frightened Rabbit. Originally from Scotland they are now based out of New York. They are really good. I am currently crushing on them. Now their sound is a mix of like Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire as Valerie described it. It has got some great lyrics and beat to it.

Now I am just waiting on when The Babyshambles will come out with their new album. Come on Pete stop messing around with Amy and get some work done.

So I hope all that are reading this blog (which is probably nobody) pray (not that I am religious) that my parentals allow me to take this dangerous trip by myself to NYC, and you never know maybe I will find true love and stop stalking my neighbors. Well if there is one thing Carrie Bradshaw, Sex in the City, always knows is that people come to New York for only one reason, true love. Or maybe I will just meet some kick ass stars or bands that I obsess about and hang out with them. Then again I am only 17.

Until tomorrow,
Carey
